Driven by a passion for cars, a passion he wanted to share Ron Silvester created the company (known then as Sydenham Park Car Sales) in 1961. With a wealth of experience after starting in the motor industry at the early age of 13, he began to strive to create a successful group of companies.

Success was measured in repeat business and to this day clients still visit the dealership with tales of old and genuine admiration and respect for the company’s late founder.

Under the management of the second generation of the Silvester family, Donna & Grant Silvester, November 2004 saw the family firmly slated in the name of the Silvester Group of Companies which is now totally driven out of their purpose built modern site in Moorhouse Avenue, Christchurch.

Family values established by Ron are still held dear by the family as the Company is taken to the next level, beginning with a new vehicle franchise in mid 2003.

Notwithstanding that success, the Silvester team are also New Zealand’s leading Chevrolet dealership. New Chevrolet trucks are always on display in the new vehicle showroom and in most cases delivery can be immediate.

So with new car franchises, a purpose built showroom facility, plus the recently developed technical Service Centre for all servicingand repairs, the Silvester name remains one of the most successful and well known names in the motoring fraternity both in Canterbury and nationally.

An accolade well earned and proudly bearing the name of its founder today and into the future.
